What you can — and can't — do while your UDID is pending

The 30–90 day wait doesn't have to be dead time.

For caregivers · 1 min read

In short

Doesn't need to wait
Therapy, school accommodation requests, joining parent support groups
Does need the finished UDID
DSSS pension, Niramaya, the railway concession certificate, ADIP devices
If it stalls
Visit the hospital's Medical Superintendent in person with your acknowledgment slip

A UDID application takes 30 to 90 days to clear medical board evaluation, and it's tempting to treat that stretch as a waiting room — pause everything until the card arrives. Most of what actually matters doesn't need to wait.

Therapy, school accommodation requests, and joining parent support networks are all available on the strength of your diagnostic report and application acknowledgment slip alone. A handful of things genuinely do require the finished UDID — the DSSS pension, Niramaya enrollment, the railway concession certificate, and ADIP devices among them — so it's worth knowing which bucket each next step falls into before assuming you're stuck.

If the application itself stalls in "Pending" for longer than expected, that usually means the local hospital hasn't cleared its digital queue — a physical visit to the Medical Superintendent's office, acknowledgment slip and documents in hand, is what actually moves it, more reliably than waiting online.
