Scholarships for students with disabilities
Free education covers tuition — scholarships help with everything else around it.
In short
- Types available

- Entry requirement
- A Disability Certificate or UDID
- Where to apply
- The National Scholarship Portal, plus any state-level top-ups
The right to free education for children with benchmark disabilities covers tuition, but not the books, transport, devices, or coaching costs that come with actually attending school. Government scholarship schemes exist specifically to close that gap, and they're available alongside — not instead of — that underlying right.
Pre-matric scholarships support school-age children before class 10, and post-matric scholarships pick up from class 11 onward through higher education. Both are aimed at students already holding a Disability Certificate or UDID, which functions as the entry requirement most schemes check first.
Applications typically open at the start of the academic year and are processed through the National Scholarship Portal, alongside any state-level top-ups. A school's own administration office is usually the fastest way to confirm which specific scholarships a child qualifies for this year, since eligibility details do shift.
